Abstract:Study results on the Diffusion Bond(DB) or Super-plastic Forming/Diffusion Bond(SPF/DB) of TiAl to different alloys,i.e.Ti-6Al-4V,40Cr and Ni-base super-alloys,were reviewed.The effects of the process parameters on the interface microstructure and properties of the joints were discussed.The results revealed that diffusion bond is one of the best ways for bond of TiAl to different alloys.The fragile phases produced during diffusion bond lead to bad performance of the joints.A composite barrier layer could be used to avoid the produce of these fragile phases.A new diffusion bond technology combined with laser surface modification to join TiAl with different alloys was proposed.
