Abstract:A new technology named polymer plating for surface modifcation of magnesium alloys has been developed. After being polymer-plated, the surface condition of the plates has been investigated through contact angle and surface energy. Compared with untreated plates, plates treated with TTN solvent possess hydrophilicity due to its higher surface energy and lower contact angle. Plates treated with DHN or DAN solvent have lower surface free energy and higher contact angle than untreated plate. A method that can fabricate hydrophilic or hydrophobic films with different solvents by polymer plating is obtained.
