Message from Guest Editor-in-Chief

At present, the emerging manufacturing technology represented by additive manufacturing, 3D printing, is regarded as the "accelerator" of scientific and technological innovation in many fields, the key basic technology to support the innovation and development of manufacturing industry, and promote the disruptive change of manufacturing industry. 3D printing plays an important role in creating an innovation chain and improving the level of innovation and research and development in the manufacturing industry, and promotes the breakthrough and leapfrog development of core manufacturing technologies in aviation, aerospace, energy, national defense, automotive, biomedical and other fields. However, compared with traditional manufacturing, 3D printing still has certain limitations in terms of material type, performance and size. In response to the growing market demand, future research in the 3D printing industry will mainly focus on large-scale large-scale production, multi-material composite printing, bioprinting and organ regeneration, and intelligent printing combined with artificial intelligence. As technology continues to advance, whether it is the manufacture of spacecraft components, the printing of life-saving organs, or the production of high-end electronics, the future of additive manufacturing will show unlimited potential.
